Cofee Table
Dimensionality
The concept centers around the visualization of various types of waves. These include sound waves, the undulating motion of fabric, and the natural waves found in heavily eroded landscapes, such as "The Wave," a sandstone rock formation.
The goal is to explore how wave-like curves can be incorporated into the design of a wooden coffee table, creating an elegant and dynamic piece.
Design Process
- Visualization and Design : The table's shape is initially visualized on the Cartesian plane using the equation: f(x)=Se(0≤x≤80, 17+17 cos(((x)/(12.77)))). The curves are refined and mirrored to achieve the desired form.
- Three-Dimensionality and Base Completion : To add depth, a scaled-down copy of the shape is placed on top, completing the base. A 60cm radius glass circle serves as the table top.
- Graphic Decomposition and Symmetry : A graphic decomposition reveals the table's shape mirrored across four quadrants, highlighting its structural symmetry.
